The Maldives Bodyboarding Association (MBBA), in collaboration with Surfsquare, has successfully completed the third clinic of the Hudhu Fonu – Maldives National Bodyboarding Program in N. Lhohi, held from 26th to 28th June 2025.

Following two successful clinics conducted earlier this year, the Lhohi program marked another important milestone in the national youth development initiative, expanding structured bodyboarding education to the outer atolls. Juniors from across Noonu Atoll took part in the three-day clinic, gaining valuable experience both in and out of the water.

The clinic welcomed participants of all skill levels, including beginners experiencing their first waves as well as developing bodyboarders seeking to improve their techniques. Under the guidance of experienced local coaches, participants engaged in structured training sessions focused on skill development, confidence building, and wave control. In addition to practical water sessions, participants received essential guidance on ocean safety, surf etiquette, and environmental awareness.

A strong emphasis was placed on inclusivity and community engagement, with participation from both boys and girls. The program provided a supportive learning environment that encouraged teamwork, discipline, and respect for the ocean, helping participants grow as athletes and responsible ocean users.

The program concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony, recognising the commitment and dedication shown by all participants. The successful delivery of the clinic reflected effective collaboration between national organisations, local councils, community groups, and private sector partners.

By reaching island communities and investing in young talent, MBBA and Surfsquare continue to promote safe, inclusive, and sustainable participation in wave-riding sports across the country.

The successful completion of the N. Lhohi clinic further strengthens the program’s impact as it continues to inspire the next generation of Maldivian wave riders.
